About HealthKnobs

Our medical publishing mission, editorial standards, and commitment to healthcare literacy.

Our Founding Mission

HealthKnobs was established to combat the rampant misinformation, speculative health fads, and commercially-biased wellness claims prevalent across modern digital media. We believe healthcare journalism must adhere to the same evidentiary standards as clinical science.

Our 3-Tier Citation Standard

Every health recommendation and factual claim published on HealthKnobs must be backed by authoritative medical literature. We mandate a strict 3-tier citation hierarchy:

  • Tier 1 (Gold Standard): Systematic reviews, meta-analyses (Cochrane, PRISMA), randomized controlled trials (RCTs), and official consensus guidelines from organizations such as the WHO, CDC, NIH, and AHA.

  • Tier 2 (Secondary Literature): Well-powered observational cohort studies (e.g. Nurses' Health Study), clinical case series in PubMed-indexed journals.

  • Tier 3 (Contextual): Pre-clinical animal or mechanistic in-vitro studies. These are always clearly disclosed as preliminary and never presented as proven clinical human outcomes.

The Clinical Medical Review Board

Articles containing therapeutic claims, dietary interventions, or clinical condition guidance undergo independent review by board-certified physicians, registered dietitians, and clinical researchers before publication.

Commercial Independence

Our editorial coverage is strictly insulated from commercial partnerships and advertising relationships. Editorial decisions, topic choices, and clinical reviews are conducted with complete independence.
